Hi plant experts (plantperts?)! I was wondering if everyone has the same issue with me in getting advice on plant care because most articles or Plantagrams seem to be written about plant care in the Northen hemisphere and may not be applicable to Sunny (hoooot lah) Singapore ? So I just acquired 2 alocasias (living dangerously I know) and advice have been quite general (spider mites blah blah blah) but I was just wondering if anyone had more specific advice about watering (and how) and fertilisation? The alocasia in question is the amazonica/Polly. My first one (which I recently had to organise a funeral for) came in an extremely well draining soil (which I may have underestimated the watering needs for) and my second comes in what looks like peat. Alocasia amazonica 2.0 sits in a shaded balcony with bright indirect light (south west facing) right on TOP of my plant #shelfie. Any local tips would be much appreciated! Thanks! Xoxo Carmen

Nice shelf! I water mine every 2-3 days as the soil dries up very fast. I only water when it is dry as overwatering can cause the leaf to turn yellow or stem to turn soft and rot away.
I noticed that too! They’re very thirsty plants. What soil does yours live in? And what lighting conditions ?
Oh and thanks for the compliment! It’s not at its full potential yet but we will get there!
